Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. I was reading this verse the other day when it occurred to me that Jesus is talking about believers who have accepted Him as Lord, believed His message, accepted the redemption of the Cross, and received the “Gifts of the Holy Spirit.” ie. prophesy in His Name, in His Name, and performing miracles in His Name. These are believers who are diligently trying to live their lives in obedience according to Jesus’ directive.
Believers who are doing good works of Faith in the name of Jesus, bearing fruit, and yet, are still in Jeopardy of having Jesus deny knowing them, calling them evildoers? Why?
